Grammar issues. Told in two parts.
A little annoyed with the characters at times. Veyl's need
for sex and his manipulation was taxing.
Both of their back stories were heartbreaking and the retelling riveting. It gave us a understanding of why they were as the were. The thing that happened after their acquaintance was quite saddening too.
Part 2 features parts with Aegeus and Finn, a supposedly evil sorcerer and his apprentice. Aegeus is to go to Veyl and cast a spell and doesn't want 10yr old Finn coming along. Finn is trying to weasel his way into being allowed to go to since he thinks something bad will happen to his master if he doesn't. He practically admits to being in love (possibly as more than student father brother etc)with Aegeus and wants to protect him at all cost.
Veyl is brought to the King of Dander and it's there he find out who he is and what the king wants him for.
There were a lot of twist and adventuring going on in this story. New character showing up to aid Veyl and Kaidos or to tear them apart. There was a lot of suffering too for the characters but there was never a dull moment. All 400 or so pages were packed with interesting storyline and for the price was well worth the read and buy. It had its
suspenseful moments for sure.
