Heart of the Oak

Heart of the Oak - Rory Ni Coileain I received this book for free in exchange for a honest review.

2.5 stars

Trevor is having a bit of a life crisis. Nothing is going his way. Returning home for a funeral he has a showdown with his homophobic brother, his boyfriend at the time dumps him because he can't deal with the family drama and so Trevor goes to loch to get away. While there he sees a guy coming out of a tree. Trevor like a moth to a flame is drawn to the guy. He doesn't think it could have been real and his night of pleasure was all a dream. He gets more than he bargained for when he's faced with the truth.

What follows is a bit what I suppose should be a treat for readers and Trevor alike. I guess for most readers it would be anyway for me it wasn't so much. I would have liked to have seen some emotional investment on both characters part before they got intimate. The concept itself was interesting and it was enjoyable to learn more about Darach and his circumstancesand what type of hold his magic had on him. I admit there were portions of the story were my attention started to wane. I like sex in my books but a little more than half the story focused on Trevor and Darach having sex and for me it just didn't work so well. I guess I just wasn't in the right mindset for it.
