I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book turned out to be different from what I expected it to be. I kind of thought the story was going to be fictitious but it really turned out be a bit of the opposite. Readers are kind of taken on this little adventure with Jason and Kevin on their trip into Philadelphia from the suburbs. On their trip the two relate stories about their sex life and people watch.
The tales shared by Kevin and Jason were a bit farfetched and their behavior a bit exaggerated. They literally flit from topic to topic and came off as a bit ADD for me. Their
flamboyant personality had it's a appeal but just wasn't enough for me in this story.
I had some issues with the stories Jason were relating. For example the attempted rape on him by some stranger while he was trying to find his lost keys on campus. I found it a bit hard to believe that no one heard him screaming his head off, even at night at a college there are always people around. The actions he took after was a bit disappointing and I felt he could have sent a more positive message for other victims. The way Kevin showed no concern for Jason after he was told of that night also didn't sit well for me. The reaction with the Gatorade and the story related with that was also something I couldn't exactly believe. He claims that he suffered extreme bullying from grades 6-12 but later in the book he also mentions everyone in high school was fine with his coming out as gay. I found it hard to believe no one would come to his aid in all that time, his parents or teachers. The drunk's phone and all those pictures and the videos was another part in the book I found hard to believe. I mean it probably could be possible but who would leave those type of pictures and videos laying around without protecting their privacy. The guy obviously had a kid in his life and it would have been stupid of him not to have ensured that his child wouldn't see those type of things. All of these things did add some spice to the book and did make it simpler to finish reading the book in a timely manner but didn't feel realistic.
