A free copy of this book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.Krial does his duty as a citizen of the Trifederation and goes to Noval, a male-dominated planet where same sex relationships are illegal, to participate as a candidate for mating to a female. While there he assigned a personal trainer, Dax, whom he is feels attracted to. Believing nothing will ever come of his attraction, Krial, resigns himself to their trainee/trainer relationship. When times comes for the "Chosen One" to be picked, Krial takes preventive gestures to ensure he won't be the one picked. But then the unthinkable happens and he is somehow selected. Distraught Krial lashes out at Dax. Dax in return makes Krial an offer he can't/won't refuse.
For some reason, I had this notion in my head that the story would be totally different from what was written. I was thoroughly engaged throughout the short story. Krial was an intriguing character and it was fun seeing the story through his eyes, his thoughts and attitude. The chemistry between Krial and Dax left an impression. The ending was sweet.
