Like two stories for the price of one. This books focuses on Haggoz and Kevin's relationship along with Mikos and Ryan. Kevin and Haggoz briefly appeared in book, Kevin was the one mixed up with Ryan's assassination plan and Haggoz is Mikos close friend and the right handman? (I guess you can say...or if you want to be more technical the General or Dyson) of Mikos.
The book starts off with Haggoz and his prisoner/love slave, Kevin. We get some background stuff on Haggoz and why Kevin betrayal cut deeply for him. As the story progresses we learn many things about Kevin and why he did what he did for ARes. Along with that we get to see how far Haggoz and Kevin's relationship have deteriorated. It was pretty heart wrenching. Kevin was extremely guilt ridden and it was saddening to see. But luckily he has Haggoz who tries to help him as much as he can. When he manages to get Ryan to meet with Kevin, things look a bit better for Kevin.
On Ryan and Mikos end we get to see more of their relationship, how they've settled back in to married life after the ordeal they suffered in book 1. Ryan is extremely hormonal and it is a bit of comical relief in terms of Mikos not knowing how to deal with the mood swings. Furthermore, Ryan is restless and so him and other nobyo decide to create their own team for the Exhibition Games, which causes some stirring among the Tygerian community.
When Mikos and Haggoz leaves on a mission and four weeks passes with no contact from their mates. Ryan, Blake and Kevin become worried when they get word about what happens, things start looking pretty bad. Ryan and Blake enlist Kevin's help and even throwing in a pardon if Kevin manages to help locate Mikos and Haggoz.
I really enjoyed the story although I felt like Kevin's story was cut a bit short in terms of what happened to Jeffrey. The bet between Mikos and Ryan, made their relationship feel a bit one sided. Mikos got what he wanted but I would have liked to see Ryan actually get his end of the bargain too since he did win even if it didn't seem honorable to Mikos. I really hope the next installment revisits both couples.
