Jake Mitchell and his son Josh move from New York to Jake’s hometown of Georgia to start anew after they both suffer something horrific. Jake hopes the change will be good for his son and himself. With the new move, Jake is still trying to get his footing. His car has other ideas though.

Matt Jackson is a mechanic at Murphy’s Repair. When Jake brings his car in because of car trouble, Matt is called on to assist him. On their first meeting the two feel a strong attraction to each other; Matt goes as far as to offer Jake a ride home several times.
Well the blurb explains a bit more but the two start to quietly date. Jake and Matt have their reasons for wanting to keep their relationship quiet.

I really liked this story. Jake and Matt subtle flirting on their first meeting was kind of cute. I really thought Matt would be the more outgoing of the two but they’re both really confident men who aren’t afraid to ask for what they want from each other. I liked that they have a respected boundary for each other.

Jake and Josh having the talk after Josh catches Jake and Matt had me a bit teary eyed. I liked that heart to heart moment that happened. Josh was a good kid and I liked that he was supportive of his dad even if he felt a bit betrayed.
Old Joe was a pain to read about I really disliked him and wanted him to disappear from Matt’s life and stop making snide remarks to Jake. Maria was a pretty awesome partner for Jake and I loved that she was a friend to him and invested in teasing and finding out more about his relationship with Matt.

The arsonist going around town was something I thought was an easy conclusion to come to for suspects. I mean especially after one particular conversation Jake had with the character. No suspects were ever names and there was never mention that they suspected anyone. I mean it was really apparent with the second incident it was mentioned what a witness heard. I feel like Maria and Jake were really bad cops.
