3.5 starsThis can be read as a standalone story in the series. This book features Mac and Gideon. The two meet in their freshman year at a party. Mac is freshly out and more than willing to find a cute boy to make a move on. When his eyes land on Gideon and the two get to talking anf hit it off. Mac thinks Gideon's totally into him and the two go back to Mac's only for a huge misunderstanding to occur resulting in the two avoiding each other for two years. When a friend of a friend refers Mac to someone needing a roommate. He doesn't expect that person to be Gideon. The apartment is too good to pass down so the two come to an understanding. As they get better acquainted the two strike up a more beneficial relationship but what seems convenient is anything but.
I enjoyed the book but it was extremely frustrating to read the ups and downs of Mac and Gideon's relationship. Both were a bit on the immature side and it felt like they were playacting being adults. The back and forth between Mac and Gideon was tiring. There was a lot of drama and sadness accompanied with this book. I did like that readers got to see both Mac and Gideon's struggles and the way they worked it all out. It wasn't all bad though. Gideon coming to and being supportive and outspoken when it concerned Mac was sweet.
