Miracles

Miracles - Jerry Cole Matthew has a medical degree to practice medicine but gave it up to move to California five years ago after having it out with his family about his sexuality. When his career as an painter takes off and plummets in those five years. Matthew is 30yr. Matthew falls on hard times and makes the move to go back home. His family is more than welcoming but Matthew's father is still a bit overbearing even if he's given Matthew a bit more responsibility. Matthew is more than pleased but still misses California. That is, until he catches a glimpse of a patient in his father's medical practice. Nathan and Matthew hit it off but their budding relationship hits a bump when the two are caught fooling around. Matthew's first instinct is to run off. With a little intervention Mathew might just come to terms with himself.

I was enjoying the book to a point but then it got a little too emotional/touchy feely for me. It was close to being too sappy. Bob's comfort was what got me and I didn't feel at that point the book was for me. I didn't like that Matthew was so childish as to runaway when a complication occurred.

The story wasn't character driven enough for me and I never grew attached to any of the characters or got invested in their well being. In Matthew's case I just didn't care. He kind of gave off a teenager vibe moving to California to be rebellious and runaway from his problems, asking his parents for money, crying and looking for praise, etc.

I also didn't like how Matthew was so willing to throw Nathan away like trash. He was pretty careless with the relationship.

An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
