Catch Me

Catch Me - Jerry Cole 2.5 stars

I'm not sure how I felt about this read. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great either. I didn't get sucked into the story and I think that's what made the story not work for me.

1. Will Gray seems to suffer a mental issue but it seems to be OCD or possibly a type of high functioning autism. It later becomes apparent he suffers from depression. But int he story I didn't feel that was true, it felt made up.

2. Devon really doesn't make an appearance too often in the read. He's Will's love interest and best friend.

3. A lot seemed to be happening in such a short time. Will's girlfriend breaks up with him sends him into a tailspin, then Devon makes a move on him and freaks him out more. Then when he comes to term with it he gets confronted about being gay. Threats are made, he's bashed and gets suspended from the football team. Add on that he then has to go through the process of being reinstated and has to go before the school board was too much for me.

4. Will's mental state was all over the place. His suicidal tendencies felt like he was just doing so to get attention. He played it up during his therapy session with the school therapist and he even calls himself a liar.

5. It felt like Devon got the short end of the stick. Will blamed him for everything that happened.

6. Everything seemed to come together too quickly for Will. When that happened his depression was nonexistent. Which I know would not be the case for a person suffering from depression.

7. Will was just a hard character to like. He doesn't identify as bisexual even though he's only ever been with girls his case of homosexuality only rare it's head after he sleep kisses Devon.

An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
