Bound to Brody

Bound to Brody - Ali Atwood A free copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Zac McQuade is an assassin working for the U.S. government and works under the guise of being a special agent for the FBI. He goes back to his hometown for his niece's christening. While driving pass his alma mater he reminiscent about his college crush Brody Maitland. When he actually gets home he finds out he has a message from Brody. This kicks starts his hopefully feelings. Until he meets up with Brody to find out why Brody wished to talk to him.

Brody is a successful psychiatrist who also holds a degree in criminal justice. He enlists Zac's help to find a patient of his who has gone missing. He doesn't expect Zac to help him and when Zac does he let's it be known that he doesn't expect Zac to do it alone.

It was an interesting story but moved quite quickly since it was so short. There isn't much back ground info on either characters or relationship building. The mystery aspect of the story was nice and I like that readers weren't really given any real suspects and an idea of whodunit till near the end of the story.

I had a couple of issues with the book. One was that I wished was addressed was if Brody ever found anyone else who was a shifter and got the answers he needed. It was explained in the story that he hasn't met anyone else and he's not even sure there is even other shifters out there. I also didn't like that that Zac was referring to Brody as his mate when he didn't know Brody was even a shifter. For me it felt out of place since this is a shifter novel.
