Bjorn Falk, gaming name Allegiance and he’s going to attend his first tournament with his e-sports team. Bjorn hopes by winning he can prove to his mom that what he does is a career and he is doing something with his life.
Michael (Mickey) Campbell, gaming name Atlanta, is a pro e-sports player. He’s a bit of a celebrity in the e-sports world and has made a name for himself in the gaming community. When he first catches sight of Allegiance he falls hard for him. He can’t help but approach him only to be shot down when Bjorn tells him he’s not gay.
Mickey can’t help himself and is a glutton for punishment. He actively seeks Bjorn out. Bjorn is more than willing to spend some time getting to know his idol. One thing lead to another and the next thing they know the gaming community is blowing up about a leaked picture of what looks to be Bjorn and Mickey cuddling out in the open.
This was actually a pretty cute read. Bjorn innocence and excitement of meeting his idol Mickey was pretty darn cute. Age isn’t specified for either Bjorn or Mickey but their interaction was quite endearing in how they danced around each other like two lovestruck teenagers. Normally so much back and forth and indecisiveness would vex me but it really didn’t.
I actually wished it was a tad bit longer maybe another chapter or two chronicling how Bjorn and Mickey got on after the end of the tournament. Bjorn and Mickey navigating their relationship and balancing their e-sport career were intriguing and new. This is the first e-sports romance I’ve read and ‘m hoping it won’t be my last.
An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
