Hemovore

Hemovore - Jordan Castillo Price Mark Hansen is a 40-ish yr old man living New York and is the personal assistant to Jonathan Varga who is a v-positive painter. V-positives are what we would consider vampires in our day and age with some minor differences. His employer is a bit meticulous in having him follow directions and while Mark finds it troublesome he does as his employer asks. His crush on his boss may play a factor of why he’s more than willing to do as asked.

When a collector is looking to buy 20 of Jonathon’s painting, the two are ecstatic and goes out to celebrate a job well done. When they return home they are met with a nasty surprise. Someone from Jonathan’s past is out to get them and their more than willing to go through a lot of trouble and bodies to trap the two.

I read the first edition several years ago and I remember enjoying it. Reading it again now, for the second time, I freaking love it. I loved learning and getting to know Jonathan and Mark, and seeing their interaction. Mark’s perceived view of the world he lived it was interesting and added to the world building.

I did enjoy seeing the two dodge the trouble they ran into and reading about the individuals that helped them. The romance was very subtle and I liked the eventual revelation that occurred. The ordeal Jonathan and Mark had to go really was telling in how much they each felt for each other.
I found it to be quite exciting and if it ever had a chance of becoming a action/adventure movie it would be a fun and exciting watch.

The additional short was cool. It was nice to see how Mark was dealing with the changes in his life, how it has impacted his relationships and just generally what he was up to after everything Jonathan and he had gone through. It was a sweet HFN ending.

A free copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
