Capitol Love

Capitol Love - Max Hudson Jack Ballen works as staff aide for Senator Carlton Sommers, a member of congress who is anti-LGBT and has a bill he needs passed. The other aide on the senator team Tabitha St. Cloud, Jack’s casual bed partner. The three along with other senators witness another senator commit suicide during a meeting. They’re all shaken but Senator Sommers believes something more sinister is happening and charges Jack with infiltrating their adversary’s camp to see if they know anything.

Tyler Johns is an aide to Senator Grant Douglass whom is pro-LGBT rights and fighting to get Senator Sommers bill blocked. When Jack pays his visit to their camp, Senator Sommer’s appoints Tyler to keep an eye on him.

When Jack poking around doesn’t get them anywhere, Senator Sommers wants Jack to up his game and seduce Tyler to get the facts. Jack faces a bit of a dilemma considering he’s working for an anti-LGBT party and he’s not gay.
I think the story itself was spectacular even if the guilty party was easy to deduce. It was exciting to see the story play out and get an example of how cut throat individuals could be to reach their goals.

Tyler and Jack’s seduction of each other felt like it was rushed. Jack just seemed a bit easy really and Tyler well he came on strong. It wasn’t unnatural but I just felt it moved along too quickly. Then they were in love and it took less than the 80 pages to happen.
I felt a little bad for Tabitha but I feel like she got what was coming for her since she was so ambitious and willing to do anything to get ahead. I also felt bad for Senator Douglas since he really was just trying to support equal rights and went above and beyond for his belief. I was rooting for his survival and was hoping no real harm came to him.

I did find it weird that no one thought it was weird that Senator Vance Cafferty, whom committed suicide, took the time to ask the senators sitting next to him to deliver envelopes to his wife and son? They had the time to question it and prevent the guy they were next to from shooting his brains out. The no lube and/or safe sex was missed. Also some of the dialogue during the sex scenes felt really pornish.

An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
