Starting off listening to the audio book I wasn't sure I liked the book all that much. Not because the narrator didn't do a good job but because of Casey and his way lay back hippy attitude. The narrator did an awesome job of bringing each character alive and portraying each and every character.
The story was hilarious, heartwarming, heartbreaking, weird, sweet, awkward, angsty...I might be missing something here but it inspired so many emotions. Gustavo/Gus was quite the character and I could relate to him esp. his social ineptness. He added so much humor to the story and his awkwardness was endearing.
Casey, was working a nerve when readers/listeners first meet him. I felt for a hipster he was pretty darn pushy. Everything Gus said in jest and seriously to get him to leave him alone totally went over his head. Casey was a bit of a wrecking ball and it took a while for me to warm up to him.
I loved that they both had a great group of supporters to help nudge them along (okay...more like nudge Gus along) and who were just looking out for them.
