I felt the story took a while to warm up to me and the budding of Axton and Leander relationship didn't happen to almost near the ending. If you're just reading this for the m/m relationship and want to see some smex throughout the story, this might not be the story for you.
The relationship between Axton and Leander is quite platonic for a majority of the story and only turns into something more near the end after a life or death crisis. Don't get me wrong I loved seeing the interaction between Axton and Leander. It was like watching a person (or if you like, a seagull) trying to coax a clam into opening it's shell to steal it's pearl. Axton was quite cute and reminded me of myself.
His backstory was interesting and I liked learning about him.
