A wonderful read. Everything is told from Avery's POV so readers only get a feel of what he's dealing with. Avery first takes notice of Joe in English class their sophomore year and he's infatuated to the point he kind of follows him around (I don't want to say stalking it seems a bit demeaning when I think of Avery). They never approach each other until Joe needs tutoring and asks Avery for help which he agrees to. After Joe successfully passes English, they go back to never contacting each other although Avery does seem to notice Joe on school grounds a lot more than before. Eventually they graduate and never see each other again.... until Joe takes a job at the diner Avery works at. That same day Avery discovers that the Joe he always thought was straight is gay. The worst part is that he only found out because Joe's boyfriend came to pick him up. Poor Avery, what is he suppose to do?
I really enjoyed this story. I thought it was sweet and the MC's adorable if a little dense. Avery was really sweet to comfort Joe after his breakup and I liked that he felt remorse for supposedly "taking advantage of Joe" and apologizing to him. The confessions from both almost had me in an "awwing" moment.
